Iqaluit, Nunavut, July 26, 2024 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) and Baffinland Iron Mines Corp. (Baffinland) will be hosting the Mary River Project Annual Project Review Forum in Igloolik on September 10, 11 and 12, 2024. This event is a negotiated benefit in the Inuit Impact Benefit Agreement (IIBA).

The Annual Project Review Forum is an opportunity to discuss project-related issues from the Mary River Project on the five impacted communities. It is a venue for community representatives to provide comments to QIA and Baffinland on environmental impacts, mitigation and monitoring plans, and to provide recommendations for overall project improvement.

QIA and Baffinland are seeking individuals that would like to take part as Elders and Youth representative from the five impacted communities of Pond Inlet, Arctic Bay, Clyde River, Sanirajak and Igloolik.  Ages for youth delegates are from 18 – 30 and Elders from 55 and up.

If interested joining as Elder or Youth delegate for the Forum, please forward your names to your local QIA Community Laison Officer or Baffinland Community Laison Officer no later then August 2, 2024.

IIBA Implementation staff from both QIA and Baffinland will be in attendance to make presentations and received feedback.
