The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) board of directors will be holding a special meeting this week in Iqaluit.

“Our board usually meets twice a year however, under special circumstances, we have agreed to meet this month to decide on some pressing issues of priority,” said Okalik Eegeesiak, the association’s President.

At this meeting, the board will be appointing a new acting Vice President. Full briefings will also be provided to the board on the Mary River Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement-in-Principle and Commercial Production Lease for ratification. The meeting takes place from September 4 to 5 at the Anglican Parish Hall.
