Qikiqtani Inuit Association Notice of Election
Iqaluit, Nunavut, October 10, 2024 – Notice is hereby given to the Members of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) that an election will be held on December 9, 2024.
The 2024 election is for 8 positions on the Board of Directors of QIA as follows:
Vice President – Qikiqtani Region
Secretary Treasurer – Qikiqtani Region
Community Director – Arctic Bay
Community Director – Kinngait
Community Director – Grise Fiord
Community Director – Pangnirtung
Community Director – Qikiqtarjuaq
Community Director – Resolute Bay
All positions carry a four year term.
To be eligible to vote you must be an Inuk enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement, be at least 16 years old on December 9, 2024 and have regularly resided in the Qikiqtani Region for a period of not less than a year.
The nomination period will open Monday, October 28 and will close on November 1, 2024 at 5pm local time.
If you are interested in being a Candidate, a criminal record check within the past three months is mandatory. Potential nominees are encouraged to start this process with the RCMP immediately.
Polling locations will be open on Advance Polls, December 2 and Voting Day, December 9, 2024, in every Qikiqtani community from 10am to 7pm local time.
