Qikiqtani Inuit Association Appoints New Director of Lands

Iqaluit, Nunavut (April 5, 2011) – Qikiqtani Inuit Association is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Director of Lands & Resources. Robert (Bob) St. Eloi will fill the position starting April 13, 2011.

“Bob brings with him a lengthy history with QIA and with that, I’d like to welcome him to his new role and look forward to working with him in serving Qikiqtaaluk beneficiaries.” said George Eckalook, Vice President of Qikiqtani Inuit Association.

In Mr. St. Eloi’s words “I look forward to the challenges that the position of Director of Lands for QIA will bring plus I am thrilled to be part of the direction in which the Department of Lands is heading into, with respect to its near and long‐term goals and objectives.”

The Department of Lands and Resources is primarily responsible for land use planning, coordinating the Community Lands and Resources Committees (CLARCs), and ensuring that Inuit Impact Benefits Agreements are negotiated with the best interest of Qikiqtani beneficiaries in mind.
