June 24, 2022, Iqaluit, NU – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is reminding residents of Arctic Bay, Clyde River, Sanirajak, Igloolik and Pond Inlet that QIA accepts funding proposals all year around for the Ilagiiktunut Fund, for the funding cycle running in 2022-23.

The Ilagiiktunut Fund is an element of the Mary River Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreement (IIBA), and it has been established by the joint contributions of Baffinland Iron Mine Corporation (BIMC) and the QIA.

The Funds are administered by QIA and has been established because QIA and Inuit have recognized the need to make important improvements in community capacity, particularly in this period of growth and change brought on by natural resource developments, within the Qikiqtani Region.

If you reside in one of the 5 impacted communities and would like to apply for funding please review Illagiiktunut Funding Guidelines, and download the Ilagiiktunut Fund Application Package.

There are two levels of funding available, Level 1 for up to $30,000 and Level 2 Application funding for $30,000 and up.  QIA has supported Level 1 projects in sewing, hunting and survival education, job readiness training and Level 2 projects in food bank support, and for non-profit groups running community sport activities.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact the QIA Coordinator, Grants & Contributions at the below address when developing proposals to ensure completeness, accuracy, and funding eligibility.

Proposals can be submitted online or through our Coordinator, Grants & Contributions:
