QIA to support Igloolik during ongoing COVID-19 outbreak
The Qikiqtani Inuit Association’s (QIA) initiative to support food security and isolation for COVID-19 affected communities continues with our food hamper and grocery voucher program in Igloolik. Qikiqtani Inuit living in Igloolik are eligible to receive two grocery vouchers valued at $250 each.
This program is designed to provide food security to Inuit households in communities with active COVID-19 cases.
QIA is delivering the grocery vouchers in Igloolik in partnership with Arctic Co-Op Limited. The funds for QIA’s COVID-19 response come from the Government of Canada’s Indigenous Community Support Fund.
Here is how it works:
- Starting January 3, QIA and Arctic Co-Ops will begin delivery of a grocery voucher, valued at $250
- Starting mid-January, QIA and Arctic Co-Ops will deliver a grocery voucher, valued at $250
- Delivery of grocery vouchers will be contactless to each Inuit household in Igloolik
Inuit with multiple families living in the same household are asked to contact their QIA Community Liaison Officer for information on additional supports.
