Answers to proponent questions, for the linked rfp
-
The requirement is to evaluate the participant’s medical suitability and then determine if any medical needs can be completed before the start of the program – correct? Are travel or expenses required by the participants to fix medical needs not the proponent’s responsibility?
- Any travel or coordination expenses required by the participants to perform medical check-ups and fix medical needs are the proponent’s responsibility.
-
Any medical expenses resulting from fixing medical needs of not more than $2,000.00 per training program participant are QIA’s responsibility.
- These expenses may include dental work (fixing tooth fillings) and/or obtaining glasses or contacts with an updated prescription.
- These expenses will only be covered if the participant is otherwise considered healthy and fit to dive by the doctor and just needs some simple medical quick fixes that would enable them to dive.
- No medical treatments will be covered for any complex, chronic, or non-chronic conditions (as these would automatically disqualify a person from diving).
-
Is the idea that the medical treatment be carried out before phase one for whomever needs it? And based on this evaluation, determine who can participate?
- The medical appointments will need to be carried out as part of phase 1. If the trainees to not pass the medical requirements, they will not proceed to continue with phase 2 of the training (the actual diving).
-
Is the proponent responsible for arranging the travel for any medical appointments or assessments that may be needed?
- Yes. The proponent is responsible for arranging the travel for any medical appointments or assessments that may be needed. Please refer to the answer to question #1 for details.
