QIA president P.J. Akeeagok Submits resignation

Iqaluit, Nunavut – August 10, 2021 – Effective, 5:01PM August 6, 2021, President P.J. Akeeagok submitted his resignation to the Qikiqtani Inuit Association Board of Directors. President Akeeagok served in this role since 2014, having been most recently re-elected in 2018.

“We thank President Akeeagok for his years of service to the Qikiqtani Region” says Acting QIA president Olayuk Akesuk. “His hard work has improved the lives of Qikiqtani Inuit and is a legacy to be proud of.”

QIA Vice President Olayuk Akesuk has assumed the role of Acting President until such a time that the Board of Directors can meet.

With an Acting President in place, Qikiqtani Inuit can be sure there will be no interruption of the programs and services they expect from QIA. QIA is excited about it’s future and continuing the hard work of representing Qikiqtani Inuit.
