Iqaluit, Nunavut, February 22, 2022 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association’s (QIA) initiative to help alleviate food insecurity and to support isolation efforts for communities affected by COVID-19 continues with a food voucher program in Clyde River.

QIA, in partnership with The North West Company LP, will be delivering food vouchers valued at $250 to Qikiqtani Inuit in Clyde River starting on February 23, 2022.  A second card valued at $250 will be delivered on or around March 6, 2022.

“With the presumptive case announced by the Government of Nunavut on Friday, QIA is taking a proactive approach for the community of Clyde River. We are glad to continue our support efforts to keep Qikiqani Inuit safe” says QIA President Olayuk Akesuk.

“I am encouraging community members to stay diligent when it comes to following orders made by the Chief Public Health Officer.  With the possibility of rapid spread, we need to work together to ensure our community does everything we can to keep our COVID-19 numbers down”, says QIA Board Member for Clyde River, Mike Jaypoody.

Inuit with multiple families living in the same household are asked to contact the QIA office in Clyde River for information on additional support
