Iqaluit, Nunavut – September 29, 2022 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is saddened to hear about the passing of Raymond Ningeocheak.

Raymond was an integral part of many discussions leading up to the negotiations of Nunavut and was a leader in Inuit Organizations since the mid-1970s serving with Inuit Tapiriit of Canada, Tunngavik Federation of Nunavut, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc, the Kivalliq Inuit Association and the Keewaatin Regional Council, to name a few.

“Raymond was no stranger to Inuit and had many family and friends across Canada.  He was a very knowledgeable man that contributed at every possible opportunity when it came to serving the Inuit in Nunavut. The QIA board and staff send their deepest condolences to the family and community members of Raymond Ningeocheak.” Said QIA President, Olayuk Akesuk

QIA remembers Raymond for his contributions to Nunavut and thanks his family for their unwavering support all these years.
