Iqaluit, Nunavut – June 15, 2018 – Qikiqtani Inuit Association congratulates the Honorable Joe Savikataaq on his appointment as Premier-designate.

“We have a strong working relationship with the Government of Nunavut on important initiatives and programs that impact Qikiqtani Inuit,” says QIA president P.J. Akeeagok, “I look forward to collaborating with Premier Savikataaq.”

The previous Premier, Paul Quassa, was removed as a member of the Executive Council and as Premier due to a vote of non-confidence on June 14, 2018. The QIA wishes to express our gratitude to Mr. Quassa for his many years of service to Nunavummiut, we hope to build on our relationship with him as he continues his service as the Igloolik MLA.
