The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is calling a by-election for the Community Director position in Pond Inlet. Effective immediately Phillip Paneak is vacating the position because of personal reasons.

“We thank Phillip for his service over the years with QIA’s Board. He’s been a tireless worker for his constituents in Pond Inlet and his presence will be missed on the Board,” said President Okalik Eegeesiak.

With Mr. Paneak no longer on the Board, there will now be a by-election for the Community Director position in Pond Inlet. That by-election will take place on December 10, 2012, the same time as QIA’s regularly scheduled elections. The winner will serve for the remaining two year term.
