QIA Board of Directors appoint Olayuk Akesuk as President

Iqaluit, Nunavut – September 10, 2021 – The QIA Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Olayuk Akesuk as QIA President. Consistent with QIA by-laws, President Akesuk will hold this position until the next QIA election, scheduled for December 2022.

“I want to thank the Board of Directors for trusting me with this critical position” says QIA president Olayuk Akesuk. “Under my presidency QIA will continue the good work of my predecessor and ensure Qikiqtani Inuit have a bright future.”

In addition to his role as President, Mr. Akesuk will also continue to act as the QIA Vice-President. Mr. Akesuk was elected to a 4-year term as QIA’s Vice-President in December 2020.

During QIA’s upcoming Annual General Meeting the QIA Board will select a new QIA Executive Committee member from within the QIA Board of Directors. Assignment of Executive Committee portfolios will occur following this appointment process.
