Iqaluit, Nunavut – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) held its Annual General Meeting and fall Board of Directors session this week in Apex, Nunavut.

“As this is our last meeting under my current term, I am extremely grateful to have represented Inuit with you.” said the Association’s President, Okalik Eegeesiak. “QIA is transforming, transitioning and growing and is an exciting place to be.”

Board members were welcomed by Mayor Madeliene Redfern and heard presentations made by Senator Dennis Pattersen, Baffinland President and CEO Tom Patton, Nunavut Premier Eva Aariak, NTI Vice President and Social Policy Advisory Council Chair Jack Anawak, City of Iqaluit Councillor Jimmy Kilabuk and First Air Vice President of Marketing and Sales Chris Ferris. Each guest discussed ways to work better in the Qikiqtaaluk region with the QIA board and made time to answer questions.

A country foods community feast open to the public was held on Thursday evening with caribou, maktaaq, Arctic char, igunaq, stew and bannock.

The QIA Board also approved various reports and made appointments to a number of boards and committees. A list of all the resolutions that were passed will be posted on the QIA website soon: www.qia.ca.
