Iqaluit, Nunavut, October 13, 2022 – Due to unforeseen circumstances, Paul Okalik has resigned in his role of Chief Returning Officer for both QIA and KIA elections. Monica Ell-Kanayuk has been appointed Chief Returning Officer (CRO) for both elections that will take place on December 12, 2022.

Monica has served Inuit in many capacities over the years, this includes: President of the Inuit Circumpolar Council, Director of Inuit Broadcasting Corporation, Member of the Legislative Assembly and Cabinet Minister for the Government of Nunavut, Director of Business Development at Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. and as a radio host on CBC Radio. She has successfully run for various positions in Nunavut and will now act as the Chief Returning Officer for KIA and QIA.
