Iqaluit, Nunavut – September 26, 2022 The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) and Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) would like to invite Iqalummiut to join them on a walk from the Igluvut Building to the Iqaluit square to recognize and pay respects on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

 

The second annual walk, being held on September 30th, recognizes the colonial legacy of residential schools and honours Indigenous survivors, families, and communities from across the country.

 

The schedule of events are as follows:

September 30th, 2022

1:00 – 1:30 PM – Orange t-shirt distribution

1:30 – 1:35 PM – Moment of silence

1:35 – 2:15 PM – Community walk from Igluvut building to Iqaluit square

2:30 – 3:30 PM – Community parlak, hosted by 1, 2, 3 GO

 

 

However you may choose to participate on this day, we encourage you to show your support by wearing orange on Friday September 30th.
