PSA – Qikiqtani Inuit Association reopens the Qikiqtani Urban Inuit Programs – Food Security Application

Event: QUIP – Food Security Application reopening
Effective Date: January 17, 2022

Iqaluit, Nunavut – January 17, 2022 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is now accepting applications for the Qikiqtani Urban Inuit Programs – Food Security (QUIP-FS) program.  QUIP-FS is a one-time $500 payment per household, for eligible Qikiqtani Inuit who do not live in Nunavut. QUIP-FS is delivered on a first-come first-served basis, until January 31st or until the funds are depleted.

QUIP-FS is available to Qikiqtani Inuit who live outside of Nunavut and are 16 years of age and older as of March 31, 2022. This program is designed to be a single payment per household. Multiple applications from the same household will not be processed.  Payments will be made by cheque and delivered via Canada Post.  Applicants should allow approximately four (4) weeks for processing.

The Qikiqtani Urban Inuit Program is an expansion of QIA’s previous COVID-19 Food Security initiatives. The funding for this program is from the Indigenous Community Support Fund. The budget for this initiative is $500,000.
