PSA: QIA outlines procedures for Elder’s receiving emergency vouchers in Iqaluit and Kinngait.

EVENT: QIA’s Emergency Grocery Vouchers for Elders
EFFECTIVE DATES: May 10 – 14, 2021

Due to the ongoing risk of COVID-19 in Iqaluit and Kinngait, the Qikiqtani Inuit Association will be taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of Elders during the distribution of emergency vouchers. A maximum of 25 people will be allowed in the stores at a time.

In Iqaluit, the distribution of emergency vouchers will begin Monday, May 10th, 2021. Ventures will open exclusively to elders from 8AM – 9AM. Distribution of vouchers will occur in a staggered way based on the following schedule:

Monday: last names beginning A-E
Tuesday: last names beginning F-K
Wednesday: last names beginning L-N
Thursday: last names beginning O-S
Friday: last names beginning T-Z

A table will be set up within Arctic Ventures, and participants are asked to follow the social distancing and mask guidelines as set out by the Chief Public Health Officer.

In Kinngait, distribution will begin Tuesday, May 11th, 2021. Elder’s hours are 8AM – 10AM. A table will be set up for Elder’s to receive their vouchers and the same guidelines are in place.
