The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is looking for Inuit to fill various board and committee positions. To be considered, please submit your resume and cover letter to QIA.
The following parks positions are vacant:
Territorial Parks:
- Iqaluit Community Joint Planning and Management Committee for Iqaluit Kuunga (Sylvia Grinnell) and Qaummaarviit Territorial Parks– One position, 3 year term.
- Kimmirut Community Joint Planning and Management Committee for Katannilik Territorial Park – One position, 3 year term.
- Clyde River Community Joint Planning and Management Committee for Agguttinni Territorial Park – Two positions, 3 year term.
- Grise Fiord Community Joint Planning and Management Committee for Napaartulik Territorial Park – One position, 2 year term.
- Sanikiluaq Community Joint Planning and Management Committee for Kinngaaluk Territorial Park – Two positions, 3 year term.
Roles, Responsibilities and Benefits:
- Provide advice and recommendations on all aspects of the planning, establishment, operations management of Territorial Parks.
- $200 / day Honoraria
National Parks
- Quttinirpaaq Joint Planning & Management Committee – two positions, until completion of the management plan
- Qausuittuq Joint Planning & Management Committee – two positions, until completion of the management plan
- Sirmilik Joint Planning & Management Committee – one position, until completion of the management plan
Roles, Responsibilities and Benefits:
- Provide advice to Parks Canada on the management of Quttinirpaaq, Qausuittuq and Sirmilik National Parks.
- Honoraria – $180/day
Park Planning Teams:
- Qausuittuq Park Planning team – one position, until completion of management plan
Roles, Responsibilities and Benefits:
- Drafting a 10-year management plan for Qausuittuq National Park
- Identify management planning issues & options through scoping exercise
- Prepare draft consultation plans
- Prepare draft management plans for review of JPMCs and the Superintendent.
- Conduct public Consultations throughout the planning process.
- Honoraria – $180/day
QIA wishes to ensure complete Inuit participation in the implementation of the Nunavut Agreement. As such, QIA has implemented an open and accountable process for considering qualified candidates. Please note that a criminal records check may be required for some appointments/nominations.
