The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is seeking energetic individuals to submit their names for the following boards:

  • Nunavut Impact Review Board (one position, three-year term)

The Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB) is an institution of public government created by the Nunavut Agreement (NA) to assess the potential impacts of proposed development in the Nunavut Settlement Area prior to approval of the required project authorizations. Using both traditional knowledge and recognized scientific methods, the NIRB assesses the potential biophysical and socio-economic impact of proposals and will make recommendations and decisions about which projects may proceed. The Board may also establish monitoring programs for projects that have been assessed and approved to proceed.

The following Joint Parks Management Committees are also seeking membership:

  • Qausuittuq National Park (one position, three-year term);

QIA wishes to ensure complete Inuit participation in the implementation of the Nunavut Agreement. As such, QIA has implemented an open and accountable process for considering qualified candidates. Please note that a criminal records check may be required for appointments/nominations.

Qikiqtaaluk Corporation (QC) (One Position Three-year Term)

QC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of QIA. QC is a for-profit development corporation whose purpose is to provide employment and financial opportunities for Inuit in the region.

This is not a full-time position, you will receive honoraria as compensation for attending meetings and carrying out duties for the QC.

Kakivak Association (Board members) (One Positions, Three-year term)

The Kakivak Association is a community and economic development organization serving Inuit, by providing business, employment and training services to enhance the strengths of communities in the Qikiqtani region.

Deadline for all of the above is September 22nd, 2023 at 5:00PM Eastern.
