The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is hosting its Annual General Meeting in Iqaluit. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the meeting will be made available to the public via weblink.
The board meeting agenda includes reports on QIA’s COVID-19 initiatives such as the Elders grocery voucher initiative and the social-distancing on-the-land initiative. Our team will also share news on new jobs and benefits related to the Agreements on Tallurutiup Imanga National Marine Conservation Area and Tuvaijuittuq Marine Protected Area. In addition, we will hear updates on ongoing work related to the Qikiqtani Truth Commission.
The meeting will also be an opportunity to release new QIA publications such as:
- QIA’s 2019-2020 Annual Report
- QIA’s 2019-2020 Benefits and Legacy Fund Annual Report
- QIA’s 2020 newsletter
- Inuit Stewardship and the Blue Economy in Nunavut’s Qikiqtani Region

This year, QIA will be distributing country food instead of a feast, due to COVID-19 restrictions. Inuit in Iqaluit can pick-up country food on Friday, October 9 from 3 to 5pm, on Inuit Owned Land between Northmart and Nakasuk School. Please respect social distancing, and keep at least two metres apart from others when picking up country food.
