Qikiqtani Inuit Association is seeking a Program Coordinator for Implementation of the Qikiqtani Truth Commission (QTC) recommendations.  The Qikiqtani Truth Commission Implementation Plan identifies 25 recommendations which are grouped into four categories: Acknowledge and Heal Past Wrongs; Strengthen Inuit Governance; Strengthen Inuit Culture; and Create Healthy Communities. Having prioritized recommendations, QIA is using the implementation plan as a guiding document in shaping the work related to social program delivery that is urgently required.

QTC Programs Coordinator, Travel and Healing enables the efficient administration of QIA’s Qikiqtani Truth Commission (QTC) related programs, specific the Travel and Healing program stream.  The position will be accountable for the transparent and accountable implementation, administration and evaluation of QTC programs and initiatives delivered by QIA.

Reporting to the Manager of Qikiqtani Truth Commission Programs, within the Department of Inuit Programs & Services, this role is responsible for QTC Program implementation, research and community outreach and engagement. This position will plan and host meetings, conduct basic research, prepare and make presentations as needed, and coordinate healing events. This role will also prepare and deliver reports related to the project execution. The Coordinator will represent QIA in working groups and committee meetings including, but not limited to, agencies of the governments of Nunavut and/or Canada, or Inuit organizations, as and when needed. Strong collaboration and teamwork skills are necessary in this role. Duty travel is a component of this role.

Knowledge of the Qikiqtani Truth Commission and QIA’s role is essential in this position. Two years of experience in program coordination, with client service experience is required. Experience with basic financial reporting and electronic file management is required.  Candidates must be comfortable with public speaking as experience preparing and delivering presentations to diverse groups is also required. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint. Fluency in English and Inuktitut is required. Knowledge and training in Intergenerational trauma is an asset.

Generally, a Diploma in Social Science or related field is required.  A combination of relevant education and related experience may also be deemed an acceptable equivalency.  An acceptable Criminal Record Check and clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

Starting salary for this position is $74,651 per annum, plus a Nunavut Northern Allowance of $27,600 per annum. Housing is not provided.
