Press Release Announcing the Selected Chief Returning Officer for the Qikiqtani Inuit Association Elections 2014

(Iqaluit, Nunavut, September 26, 2014) The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) has selected Nancy Karetak-Lindell, with Ayaya Communications Inc. to be the Chief Returning Officer as per s. 8.1(b) of the Elections Regulations for the QIA Elections 2014.

Nancy Karetak-Lindell as well as Ayaya Communications Inc. have extensive experience in elections and referendums, at the municipal, territorial and federal levels. As per Section 8.1 (d) of the QIA Election Regulations, ‘’the Chief Returning Officer shall exercise general direction and supervision over the administrative conduct of an election enforce fairness, impartiality and compliance with QIA’s By-law and these Election Regulations […].’’ Fairness, and impartiality are fundamental principles for the QIA.

The QIA Election 2014 is scheduled on December 8, 2014. Further information pertaining to the QIA Elections 2014 will be made available on the QIA’s website and to the beneficiaries with respect to the deadlines prescribe in the QIA Election Regulations. The QIA Election Regulations are available through QIA’s website at www.qia.ca.
