Iqaluit, Nunavut, January 10, 2025 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) continues to administer the Nunavut Harvesters Support Program on behalf of NTI. The program provides a rebate to support Qikiqtani Inuit with costs related to the purchase of hunting equipment. Qikiqtani Inuit can apply for funds under the Small Equipment, Safety Equipment, Disaster Relief and the Insurance Coverage Programs.
Some notable updates have been made to include more items under fishing equipment, outdoor equipment, hunting tools and equipment, snowmobile parts, boat parts and storage, please see our website for the full updated list.
If you have purchased any of these updated items since October 1st, 2024, and still have your receipts, you can now submit your claims under NHSP. Funds are still available for this fiscal year, so we are encouraging Qikiqtani Inuit to apply by March 31, 2025. Funding for NHSP will renew starting April 1, 2025.
You are eligible for the NHSPs Small Equipment, Disaster Relief, Safety Equipment or insurance coverage programs if you are 16 or older, a harvester that engages in traditional harvesting activities, and you have not exceeded the funding cap for this fiscal year.
