Nunavut News: Degrees of Success: Scholarship opportunities abound

Expenses related to post-secondary education can be substantial: tuition, room and board,  textbooks, among them.

Scholarships and grants can make the difference for promising students who desire a college or university education.

Below is a list of numerous scholarships available to students North of 60. Those interested in applying should contact the organization offering the awards to ascertain further details.

NUNAVUT

Cathy Pikuyak of Sanirajak was one of recipients of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association’s 80 new scholarships for the 2019-20 school year. Each of those awards is valued at $2,500 per year.

QIA Scholarship

Value: $2,500

Available: 80

Organization: Qikiqtani Inuit Association

Eligibility: The QIA Scholarship was launched in 2017-18 for students in all 13 Qikiqtani communities. Applicants must have a valid Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. card, be enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement in the Qikiqtani region and be enrolled in post-secondary education.
