The Inuit Language Protection Act (ILPA) calls for the Minister of Languages to prepare an implementation plan in consultation with stakeholders to ensure that the Act is carried out. As a result, the Minister of Languages, Louis Tapardjuk, set up regional roundtables in January 2010 to discuss what the priorities are for language implementation planning. QIA participated, moderated and presented in the meetings. Some strong recommendations came out of the meetings including:

i. The need to invest heavily in Inuktitut resources for the early childhood education system.
ii. There was strong support for an auxiliary standardized Inuktitut writing system.
iii. Increasing the quality of Inuktitut usage in the Media.
iv. An, urgency to use Inuktitut in the home to reverse language loss.
v. An urgency for businesses to start providing Inuktitut language services.
vi. Systematic community planning to reverse language loss. The Kitikmeot provided strong examples of what they are dong for Inuinnaqtun in their communities.

vii. There was an emphasis for everyone to reduce reliance on the Government for continuations of Inuktitut and Inuinnaqtun to avoid further loss of language.
