Nunasi Corporation together with the Qikiqtani Inuit Association are pleased to announce Okalik Eegeesiak as the new chairperson of Nunasi.

Ms. Eegeesiak stated, “I’ve been given the opportunity to lead the path in which the Regional Inuit Associations would like to go and I thank the Board for their vote of confidence. This appointment is indicative of the positive changes that are being made to unify our companies for the benefit of Inuit.”

Wilf Wilcox of the Kitikmeot Corporation served as the chair during the restructuring process.

In November, Nunasi’s board of directors was restructured to include the Presidents of each Regional Inuit Association as well as the Presidents and Chairpersons of each regional development corporations. From this group, Nunasi’s board chooses who will serve as the chairperson. Ms. Eegeesiak’s term as chairperson is for one year.
