New Executive Director Named for Qikiqtani Inuit Association

Iqaluit, Nunavut – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) today is pleased to announce the promotion of Navarana Beveridge as its new Executive Director. It is a term position and will run from December 5, 2011 until March 31, 2013.

“Navarana’s performance in social policy has been influential for QIA, promoting and protecting Inuit Rights and Values in all aspects of her work. Navarana is known for her ability to be a team leader and overcome issues during challenging times” said QIA acting vice-president Joe Attagutaluk on behalf of the Executive Committee.

Ms. Beveridge has been with the organization serving as the Director of Social Policy since 2009. She brings with her an extensive policy background from her previous position as a Policy Analyst with Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. She is currently a Fellow with the Walter and Duncan Gordon Foundation with the Jane Glassco Arctic Fellowship Program.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as QIA’s Executive Director. There are many goals we have to accomplish in the coming years and I look forward to working with our beneficiaries and our partners in achieving them,” she said.

Along with Ms. Beveridge’s appointment, QIA announced two additional changes to its senior management team. Bob St. Eloi resumes his position as Director of Finance. Craig Welsh has been hired to fill the position of Director of Communications.
