We got our books signed at the annual authors’ event

 In Blog

Every year, during Inuktitut Language Month in February, we partner with Inhabit media to showcase the Inuktitut books and resources we help develop for young readers at the annual authors’ event in Iqaluit. This year the event was held on February 15 at the Frobisher Inn and was expanded to include the Nunavut Children’s film festival featuring short animations in Inuktitut.

Young fans gathered at the event to meet their favourite authors and get their books autographed. QIA had a booth at the venue and helped celebrate the occasion by handing out prizes to the participants.

We have partnered with Inhabit Media for over a decade to preserve and promote Inuktitut, particularly to young readers. Throughout the month we posted a different book each day on QIA’s social media pages to let people know about all the great titles and resources available for children and families.

Our 4th annual song and poem contest was extended until March 6, 2020, to give everyone an opportunity to submit their work. Participants are asked to share an original short song or poem (50 words or less) with QIA on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) using the hashtag #QIAinuk20. The winners receives $400, second place $300, and third place $200. We will provide an update once the winners have been selected.
