The Nauttiqsuqtiit Administrative Liaison position is in Iqaluit and is responsible for overseeing the implementation and coordination of the Nauttiqsuqtiit (Inuit Stewardship) Program.  The Nauttiqsuqtiit, or Inuit Stewards, are the eyes and ears of the land, waters and conservation areas. The Nauttiqsuqtiit monitor conservation areas within the Qikiqtani region and hunt and harvesting to the benefit of our communities.

The purpose of the Nauttiqsuqtiit Administrative Liaison position is to oversee the administration of the Inuit Stewardship Program in the communities affected by the Tallurutiup Imanga National Marine Conservation Area (TINMCA), the Qikiqtait Marine Protected Area and future conservation areas.

The Nauttiqsuqtiit Administrative Liaison administers all aspects of the Inuit Stewardship Program at the QIA headquarters level, including administration, coordination of program activities and training, logistical planning, reporting, financial administration, managing program data and supporting day-to-day operations.  This position reports to the Senior Inuit Stewardship Manager who is based in Iqaluit. This role plays a key role in the implementation of the Nauttiqsuqtiit (Inuit Stewardship) Program.

This is a client service position that requires a professional and positive attitude, regular and timely attendance, as well as flexibility to deal with a new and evolving program. Some duty travel is required.  The Nauttiqsuqtiit Administrative Liaison is the main support for the Nauttiqsuqtiit Managers and acts as the liaison between the Inuit Steward teams and the rest of the community. Knowledge of social, economic, and environmental issues in Nunavut is essential in this role. Well-developed skills in leadership, problem-solving and client service are required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also required.

Inuktitut language skills are required for this role.

One (1) year of experience in office administration is required.  Experience leading others or coaching is required along with experience working with youth, elders and members of the community. Knowledge of the Qikiqtani communities and experience on the land, harvesting, and camping is an asset. Generally, applicants should have a Certificate in Business Admin or a similar course.  A Post-Secondary Diploma in a related field is an asset.  An acceptable combination of relevant education and experience may be considered an equivalency. A satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The starting salary for this position is $74,651 per annum, plus a Nunavut Northern Allowance of $27,600 per annum. Housing is not provided.
