The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) QIA is seeking a skilled and reliable finance professional, with broad knowledge of accounting and financial principles, to direct and oversee the Department of Finance. The Director of Finance represents a key operational role within the organization and will lead the day-to-day financial operations and management of departmental staff.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) this position plays a key role in managing QIA’s financial processing efficiently and effectively by providing direct oversight to departmental staff, conducting ongoing monitoring of accounts, completing reconciliations, revenues and expenditures, reporting on actuals and variances, and reviewing controls to ensure integrity of financial data. This position is responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll & Benefits and other accounting functions of the department. This role will assist in the on-going development of financial procedures, internal controls, audit verification strategies and financial reporting systems while providing training and financially sound advice to the organization’s leadership.

Applicants must have five years of progressive experience in a senior financial or accounting role. Experience directing and managing staff, including performance management is required, along with the ability to prepare and present financial information to senior management.  Experience in budget analysis, financial planning and financial reporting is essential for this role. Experience preparing financial statements and proficiency in financial accounting systems is required.

Generally, this position requires a degree in Accounting, Commerce or related field.  A combination of relevant education and related experience may also be deemed an acceptable equivalency.  An acceptable Criminal Record Check is required.

Salary for this position starts at $139,349 per annum, plus a Nunavut Northern Allowance of $27,600 per annum. Housing is not provided.
