 Position: Coordinator, Qimmiit Revitalization Program

 The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) QIA is seeking a Coordinator for the Qimmiit Revitalization Program which enables the efficient administration of QIA’s Qikiqtani Truth Commission (QTC) related programs, specifically the Qimmiit Revitalization program stream. The position will be accountable for the transparent and accountable deployment and administration of QTC programs and initiatives which are delivered by QIA.

Reporting to the Manager of QTC Implementation and Programs, the position is accountable to execute the direction provided by its committees, as delivered through the Department of Inuit Programs and Services. The Incumbent will assist in providing information and recommendations to the program delivery team, the Director and/or Executive Director. This position is heavily relied upon by senior leadership throughout QIA to provide timely, accurate, and the associated outcomes of social programming delivered through the Department.  The Program Coordinator provides cultural expertise and leadership in the execution of their role and supports key objectives such as enabling Inuit self-sufficiency, effective program administration and event coordination, effective communications and accurate reporting. The incumbent will need awareness of the political, social, and economic environment of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association, and of Nunavut and Inuit Nunangat in general, along with knowledge of Inuit history, language, culture, program design and delivery.

Understanding of the Qikiqtani Truth Commission and knowledge of Inuit traditional qimmiit or qimuksiq practices is required. Applicants must understand intergenerational trauma and its effects on self-identity. One year of client service experience and strong interpersonal skills are required to provide the necessary support and assistance to Inuit and community stakeholders. Strong organizational skills and robust experience in program coordination and delivery are required. This role requires a collaborative nature and strong teamwork skills. Applicants must have basic financial administration experience and report writing skills with experience developing and giving presentations.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also required. Fluency in Inuktitut is required for this role.

Generally, a post-secondary diploma in Inuit Studies or Social Sciences is required. A combination of related education and experience will also be considered. Certification in Mental Health First Aid or Trauma Informed Care is an asset. An acceptable Criminal Record Check is also required.

Salary range for this position is $74,651 to $109,480 per annum, plus a Nunavut Northern Allowance of $27,600 per annum. Housing is not provided.
