The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is seeking a community oriented, engaging and highly motivated individual to fill the role of the Community Liaison Officer, this role will support Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA), and Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI), by liaising with the Community on different needs and responsibilities.
The Community Liaison Officer (CLO) is a key operational role within Qikiqtani Inuit Association. Under the direction of the CLO Supervisor, in the Department of Executive Management, the CLO is primarily an administrative, liaison position at the community level to ensure that Inuit in the communities benefit from implementation of QIA benefits, the Nunavut Agreement (NA), and Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI) programs. This position will support QIA’s requirement to have meaningful two-way communication with communities. The CLO will be relied upon to present recommendations, provide advice and information to the Department in order to support informed, inclusive and considerate decision-making. This position is a generalist role which requires familiarity with a broad range of QIA documents, policies, and protocols in order for the incumbent to effectively execute the responsibilities and serve the purpose of the position.
The incumbent will need to have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, administrative skills, as well as the ability to deal with difficult situations. Experience using Microsoft Office, and delivery of community service is required. This position will have translating duties so fluency in Inuktitut and English is required.
Generally, a Secondary School Diploma or equivalent is required. A combination of relevant education and experience may also be deemed an acceptable equivalency.
