Iqaluit, Nunavut, October 25, 2024 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is holding an election on December 9, 2024.
Below are the important dates of the 2024 election, all information prior to this PSA is null and void.
Nominations Open – November 4, 2024
Nominations Close – November 8, 2024 (5:00pm local time)
Deadline to Withdrawal – November 12, 2024 (5:00pm local time)
Advance Polls – December 2, 2024 (10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.)
Mobile Polls – December 3 – 6, 2024
Election Day – December 9, 2024 (10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.)
To be eligible to vote in the QIA Election, you must:
• Be an Inuk enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement
• Be 16 years old or older on December 9, 2024
• Have regularly resided in the Qikiqtani region for longer than one year
Nomination papers will be available from the QIA CRO Monica Ell-Kanayuk, on QIA’s website at www.qia.ca/elections or from the Office of the CRO on November 4, 2024.
