QIA – Call for Applications

March 31, 2022, The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is seeking energetic individuals to submit their names for the following boards:

Call for Applications – Nunavut Water Board (NWB)
One Position Open – 3 year term

The Board is required, in the exercising of that licensing power, to consider any detrimental effects of the potential use of waters or a deposit of waste on other water users and to hold, where appropriate, public hearings.
The NWB has responsibilities and powers over the use, management and regulation of inland water in Nunavut and its mandate is to provide for the conservation and utilization of waters in Nunavut – except in national parks – in a manner that will provide the optimum benefits for the Canadians in general and in particular, Nunavut.

This is not a full-time position, you will receive honoraria as compensation for attending meetings and carrying out duties for the NWB.

 

Call for Applications – Nunavut Trust
One Position – 3 year term

The Nunavut Trust protects the settlement funds for Nunavut Inuit. The Trust is responsible for the investment policies and objectives. The Trustees provide general stewardship and oversight regarding Trust portfolio strategies, overall asset mix, and other issues raised by the Trust from time to time.

This is not a full-time position, you will receive honoraria as compensation for attending meetings and carrying out duties for the Nunavut Trust.

 

Call for Applications – Nunavut Disabilities Council
One Position – 1 year term

The Nunavut Disabilities Council promotes awareness, opportunity, choice and participation in all aspects of life in Nunavut for all people with disabilities to achieve independence, self-determination and full citizenship for all Nunavummiut.

This is not a full-time position, you will receive honoraria as compensation for attending meetings and carrying out duties for the Nunavut Disabilities Council.

 

Call for Applications – Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (IBC)
One Position – 3 year term

IBC promotes the understanding of Inuit culture and language through the media industry. The IBC programming provides a cultural and communication link through which Inuit can exercise their rights and freedom of expression.

This is not a full-time position, you will receive honoraria as compensation for attending meetings and carrying out duties for the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation.

 

Kakivak Association (Board members) (Two Positions, Three-year term)

The Kakivak Association is a community and economic development organization serving Inuit, by providing business, employment and training services to enhance the strengths of communities in the Qikiqtani region.

 

The following Joint Parks Management Committee are also seeking membership

National Parks
• Auyuittuq National Park – Joint Planning & Management Committee – One position, until completion
• Sirmilik National Park Joint Planning and Management Committee – Two positions, until completion

Territorial Parks
• Iqaluit Community Joint Planning & Management Committee – One position, 3 year term
• Sanikiluaq Community Joint Planning & Management Committee – One position, 3 year term
