80 post-secondary students receive QIA’s 2018-2019 scholarships

Iqaluit, Nunavut – September 27, 2018 – Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is pleased to announce the recipients of QIA’s scholarships for post-secondary students enrolled in the 2018-2019 academic year.

“An investment in education is an investment in our future,” says QIA President P.J. Akeeagok, “these post-secondary scholarships give Inuit a little help so they can focus on their studies, pursue their goals and achieve their dreams.”

This is the second year QIA is offering $200,000 in new scholarships.

The 80 QIA scholarships at $2,500/year, are awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis to students from Qikiqtani who are pursuing post-secondary education.

Over 100 students applied for the new QIA scholarships this year.

Criteria for the QIA Scholarships:

  • Applicants must have a valid Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. card
  • Students must be Inuit registered under the Nunavut Agreement living in the Qikiqtani Region
  • Students must be enrolled in a post-secondary academic institution
