2024 Nunavut Quest Begins Monday

Iqaluit, Nunavut –April 12, 2024– The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) is excited for this years Nunavut Quest. The race will start on Monday, April 15th, in Arctic Bay. Twelve mushers from three communities will make the estimated one-week trek from Arctic Bay to Pond Inlet.

QIA supports Nunavut Quest through it’s $100, 000 allotment from the Qikiqtani Truth Commission funding, dedicated to the Qimuksiqtiit Revitalization efforts.

This year’s prizes are as follows:
1st Place – $20,000

2nd Place – $15,000

3rd Place – $10,000

4th Place – $5,000

5th Place – $2,500

6th – 12th Place – $2,000

There will also be group of students from Igloolik, supported through QIA’s Ilagiiktunut Fund programming and in partnership with Nunatsiaq News and Connected North, travelling with the race and acting as official timekeepers. The students will be outfitted with a Mobile Starlink device and will send updated throughout the race.
