QCAP

QCAP – QIA’s Qikiqtani Cultural Activities Program.

Following extensive consultations with all 13 Qikiqtani communities in 2017, QIA heard clearly that Qikiqtani Inuit wanted cultural programs which foster traditional skills and strengthen Inuit identity, particularly land and sewing programs.

Under QCAP, each community can access up to $45,000 for programs. Although land and sewing programs are given priority, QIA will also consider other Inuit cultural programs.

The new program is designed to be more accessible, with simplified application and reporting processes.

QCAP was one of the programs selected by the QIA Board of Directors in October 2017 to be part of the Benefits Fund spending. Money for the Benefits Fund is derived from the Legacy Fund, as the Legacy Fund grows its revenues go to the Benefits Fund to increase programs for Inuit.

The Qikiqtani Inuit Association is inviting proposals for the Qikiqtani Cultural Activities Program (QCAP) in the following communities: Arctic Bay, Clyde River, Sanirajak, Resolute Bay, and Sanikiluaq.

Individual Inuit and community groups from those communities are invited to submit proposals for projects that will run from mid-August 2019 to March 31, 2020. There is about $25,000 available to each of the five communities.

The deadline for QCAP applications is July 22, 2019.

The QCAP guidelines and application are available on the QIA website.
