Voting Day for the Qikiqtani Inuit Association

Today is election day and the Qikiqtani Inuit Association encourages beneficiaries to go out and vote. Polling station will be open from 10 am to 7 p.m. today.

Voters across the Qikiqtani region will select between Joe Attagutaluk and Paul Irngaut for the position of Secretary Treasurer. There is also Community Director positions being contested in Arctic Bay, Kinngait, Grise Fiord, Pond Inlet, Qikiqtarjuaq, and there is a by-election for Pond Inlet today also.

Polling stations can be found in the following communities:

Arctic Bay – West Side Community Hall;
Kinngait – Hamlet Chambers;
Clyde River – Parish Hall;
Grise Fiord – Hamlet Chambers;
Sanirajak – Hamlet Chambers;
Igloolik – Hamlet Chambers;
Iqaluit Parish Hall and Abe Okpik Hall in Apex;
Kimmirut – Hamlet Chambers;
Pangnirtung – Community Hall;
Pond Inlet – Community Hall;
Qikiqtarjuaq – Hamlet Chambers;
Resolute Bay – Hamlet Office;
Sanikiluaq – Municipal Office.

In Ottawa voters can go to the Tungasuvvingat Inuit Building at 604 Laurier Avenue West and the Larga.

There will also be a mobile voting station in Iqaluit that will visit the Baffin Correctional Center, High school and the elder’s centre for people who wish to vote there.
