Under the direction of QIA’s Director of Social Policy, the Policy Analyst acts as an advocate on a wide range of social and cultural issues. The Policy Analyst is directly involved in numerous community, regional, territorial, and national initiatives.
Among other duties, the Policy Analyst researches issues and concerns that affect Inuit in the Qikiqtani region as directed by the Director of Social Policy, this could include issues in relation to Territorial and Federal legislation.
The Policy Analyst will also be able to demonstrate their understanding of the different political and representational organizations that affect the social and cultural well-being of Qikiqtani Inuit. The Policy Analyst will have competency in all aspects of project management and be able to represent QIA at meetings at various venues as appropriate.
The candidate will have knowledge and background concerning social and cultural issues, previous policy work, as well as proven abilities concerning project management. The Policy Analyst will be required to meet deadlines, prioritize work assignments, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and understand Inuit traditions and culture.
Fluency in Inuktitut and English is preferred. Computer literacy, and a willingness to undertake duty travel are required.
