QIA is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to fill the role of Assistant Director of Major Projects. This role oversees and supports a number of core functions for the organization in fulfillment of its Strategic Objectives, including organizational efficiency, social policy, project management, and the effective implementation of the Mary River Project.
Reporting to the Director of Major Projects, the Assistant Director is the lead project manager and policy advisor for the Department, and designs, organizes and executes projects that support sound knowledge development and strong policy positions for the organization. This position ensures that the commitments and requirements of agreements and contracts relating to major development projects to which QIA is a party to are achieved in a timely and effective manner.
The Assistant Director is responsible for QIA activities related to the Mary River Project, and will effectively implement project management solutions coordinated with the Inuit Implementation Benefit Agreement (IIBA) manager to deliver on current as well as short and longer-term commitments that are and will be in place.
The position requires a combination of relevant education and experience. Success in this position requires strong leadership skills, and demonstrated experience in executing large projects. Applicants are highly organized, and are creative in developing new or unique ways to improve operations and/or mobilize resources and assets; they also thoroughly understand the regulatory review processes and components associated with major development projects in the north.
